Global Economic Leaders Summit 2017

– the “Belt & Road” Forum for Economic Cooperation and Trade

Invited as VIP participants to GELS 2017, Ana Turcan and Jürgen Raizner created a strong connection with China. Central and Eastern Europa is a region with great potential for doing business with China. From August 30th to September 1st the GELS 2017 was an excellent platform for promoting investment and innovation – perfectly in line with the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Global Economic Leaders Summit took place for the 5th time in Changchun, Jilin Province in North-East China.

“The Summit gathered executives from Fortune Global 500 companies, elite investors from Top 100 Industrial Investment Companies, senior government officials and renowned economists from over 60 countries and regions. Meanwhile business matchmaking and cooperation between over 350 global selected investment projects and over $10 billion of quality capital was facilitated during the Summit.”

Steinbeis Team Turcan-Raizner has proposed concrete opportunities to the organisers of GELS and became invited as VIP participant:

  • Investing in Industry: Manufacturing in Danube Region – the gate to European Markets
  • Investing in Infrastructure: Modernizing ports at Danube River
  • Research and Innovation Action: Optimizing Oxygen Reduction Reaction for Dual Application

A Investment Matchmaking Session was central component of GELS. Not only representatives from Chinese institutions and enterprises expressed their interest in cooperating with Steinbeis. Participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway,…and more countries became interested in the competences of Ana Turcan and Jürgen Raizner. A follow-up is going on and will result in concrete actions.

The 11th China Northeast Expo

This trade fair took place at same time as GELS 2017. A visit to the Northeast Expo was prepared for Ana Turcan and Jürgen Raizner. Both took the chance to visit the pavilion of Intelligent Manufacturing. Chinese exhibitors presented their latest technologies in robotics and intelligent equipment, smart transportation, 3D printing, smart logistics, smart furniture, new IT and Internet plus manufacturing.

Highly promising discussions took place with exhibitors. Main topics of interest: export to europe but also the collaboration in innovation projects.

Changchun (长春), Jilin Province

Changchun is the capital of Jilin Province, the economic center of Northeast China. With a population of more than 7 million, it is not among the largets cities of China – but Changchun is the largest center for China’s automotive industry.
